Emergency Services Levy

NSW Emergency Services Levy Update

On 30 May 2017, the NSW Government announced that it would not proceed with its policy of funding fire and emergency services through a property levy collected by councils. The Government has decided to continue to fund these services through an ESL on property insurance premiums.

On 20 June 2017, the Government introduced the Emergency Services Levy Bill 2017 which reinstates ESL on insurance premiums from 1 July 2017. The Bill is yet to pass into law, but is expected to do so in the next week or so.
